EXPERIENCE

Here you can find and explore the projects, research and fieldwork I have had the opportunity to be a part of!

Association for Psychological Science (APS) National Conference

San Francisco, California

I am currently a member of Dr. Tara Lineweaver's Neuroscience research lab, where I am investigating the connection between music and memories across different stages in the lifespan. Throughout my junior year, my partner and I worked hard to help create a 45-50 minute Qualtrics survey that ultimately gave us over 800 variables to assess!

This summer, we had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco, California to be apart of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) National Conference. Over the three-day conference, we were given the chance to present our area of research with our preliminary results and attend multiple talks given by a variety of professional psychologists. We even had a little bit of time to explore the city together! â€‹

Throughout this upcoming school year, I will be continuing my work on this project with further data analysis and conclusions to come!

Field Research

Data Logging / Key Personnel

During my sophomore year, I was a member of Dr. Tara Lineweaver's Music First! Psychology Research lab. As a member of this lab, I was able to combine my passion for psychology, neuroscience and music all into one project!

I assisted in the investigation of the connection between music and the sundowning symptoms associated with Alzheimer's and dementia. In addition, I had the opportunity to get hands on experience with adults battling these neurological disorders! On a weekly basis, I would visit with patients, play personalized playlists for them, and observe and log their behavior.

This experience taught me so much about the population that suffers from these disorders and increased my curiosity for future research regarding memory.

Study Abroad

London, United Kingdom

Over the 2023 summer, I was given the amazing opportunity to broaden my learning experiences to another country! With a community of other Butler students, I traveled to London where we partook in a class focused on leadership. We dug deeper into a variety of historic leaders including Winston Churchill, Mahatma Gandhi, and even Queen Elizabeth I. Throughout these case studies, I learned the foundational traits of leadership vary among leaders. Therefore, every great leader uses many different leadership styles to achieve their goals.

As a part of this experience, I also had the opportunity to travel to Paris, France for a weekend. On this weekend trip I did not have the familiarity of the Butler community, as I arrived with just a couple friends. Entering a country that has a first language other than English was a life changing experience! Because this was not a part of the Butler agenda we did not learn about the French culture through academia. Instead, we experienced this culture through their food, architecture and art. Although unfamiliar, being immersed in a foreign culture was an amazing experience that taught me so much about myself. Overcoming barriers such as language and public transportation has increased my personal confidence and sparked my interest in future world traveling!

Lab Assistant

Multisensory Learning Facility (MLF)

I began working at the Multisensory Learning Facility as a lab assistant during my freshman year at Butler University. As a lab assistant I have been able to troubleshoot technology problems, anticipate issues and support the curriculum for other staff members and the students of Butler University. I am excited to continue my position in the lab this coming year!
